But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.

Men genast talade Jesus till dem och sade: "Lugn, det är jag. Var inte rädda." Petrus svarade: "Herre, om det är du, så säg åt mig att komma till dig på vattnet." Han sade: "Kom!" och Petrus steg ur båten och gick på vattnet fram till Jesus. Men när han såg hur det blåste blev han rädd. Han började sjunka och ropade: "Herre, hjälp mig!" Jesus sträckte genast ut handen och grep tag i honom.
